NYCSBUS (New York City School Bus Umbrella Services Inc.) is a newly formed independent not-for-profit corporation that provides school bus transportation services to New York City public and private school students. NYSCBUSs goal is to radically improve student bus transportation by innovating in all areas and providing unprecedented transparency. A crucial part of this innovation involves bringing modern data practices to the world of school busing. The Business Analyst will be responsible for collecting and integrating data streams from NYCSBUSs systems to develop performance indicators that offer a comprehensive view of the NYCSBUSs operations and organization. This position reports to the CIO and will be closely working with NYCSBUS leadership to develop reports, and key performance indicators. Previous experience in financial, supply chain, logistics, or operations analysis is preferred. What You'll Do / In collaboration with the CEO and Data team, you will:

• Become an in-house expert on internal and external NYCSBUS systems.
• Download data from NYCSBUS systems for preparing daily operational reports
• Manage complex data projects by partnering with different operational units (Service Delivery, Fleet, Finance, Risk)
• Create templates in Google Sheets to drive daily operations.
• Help analyze trends from the data.
• Develop knowledge of the school bus industry by learning from our subject matter experts.
• Ideate process improvements for handling data.

Key Job Outcomes:

• Daily / weekly/monthly performance reporting that takes multiple streams of data, produced daily to provide a comprehensive understanding of the companys performance.
• NYCSBUS managers and staff believe they understand how the company is performing and how they can affect that performance
• NYCSBUS has visibility over its operations and can track short - medium - and long-term activity and trends
• NYCSBUS takes advantage of innovative technology

What you'll bring / Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, in a relevant field like Library Science or Information Technology OR relevant work experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (vLookup, Countif, If/Then, Index/Match, Pivot Tables, etc.). A test will be given to evaluate these skills.
• Experience in database design and structuring
• Knowledge of financial data systems is preferred but not required.
• Project Management experience using Jira or similar project management software.
• Comfortable or can learn to work with Google Sheets
• A desire to learn how to code in python / do more advanced analytics with our Data science team.
• Knowledge of SQL a plus

Additional skills:
